Russian Cup not bad, but 10th place not where Spartak should be, says Samedov

Former Spartak midfielder Alexander Samedov assessed the results of the team in the season, noting that 10th place in the Russian championship is not the one that the “red-whites” should take.

“Spartacus” in the 2021/22 season, they won the Russian Cup for the first time in 19 years, beating Dynamo in the final. In the RPL, Paolo Vanoli’s team became 10th.

– Impressions of the Cup final? There were two clubs that hadn’t won in this tournament for a long time. Entourage, full Luzhniki, the organizers did everything at the highest level, Samedov told reporters.

– Many people say that the organization was better than in the Champions League final.

– There was a scandal. I don’t know how to compare. Here I was at the stadium, I saw everything with my own eyes, and there I only saw it on TV. Difficult comparison.

– It will be correct to ask, for whom were you worried?

– I said before the game that I was worried about Spartak. I had a good time at Dynamo, but I still graduated from Spartak and wanted him to win.

– Did winning the Cup save Spartak’s season?

– This one isn’t bad, it’s a trophy, but (10th place) it’s not where Spartak should be.

– Considering the organization of the Cup, is it worth holding central matches and finals in Luzhniki all the time?

– In all fairness, the team played a role here, especially Spartak. This is a brand. And no matter what, when Spartak takes part in the final, it’s a holiday.

In the match for the Russian Super Cup, Spartak will play with Russian champion Zenit. The place and date of the meeting have not yet been determined.

– Where to organize the Super Bowl? Are you for the expansion of geography in this regard?

– In any city, the Super Bowl is a full stadium. In any case, the sign is like that,” Samedov noted.
