Three clubs from Belgium in the quarter-finals of European competition
The return matches of the 1/8 finals of the Europa League did not bring Ukraine any points in the UEFA rating. Shakhtar’s crushing loss to Feyenoord left Ukraine in 14th place in the odds table. It is from this position that our country will start the new European Cup season.
This result allows Ukraine to field five clubs in European competition, two of which are in the Champions League. At the same time, there is a possibility that the champion of Ukraine will start playing in the group round of the most prestigious club tournament in Europe. This will happen if the Champions League of the 2022/2023 season is won by a team that will enter the next season’s tournament based on the results of its championship. Given the current situation, it is important for us that Chelsea do not win the Champions League.
In total, Ukraine has 5.7 points this season. Ukraine received 0.8 points for getting Shakhtar into the group stage of the Champions League (4 bonus points divided by all the same five clubs), 0.2 points for Dnipro’s exit from the Conference League group, the same amount for the Pitmen’s getting into the 1/8 finals League of Europe. Shakhtar brought Ukraine 1.6 points – wins against Leipzig and Rennes, two draws with Celtic, world matches with Real and Feyenoord. Dynamo has 4.5 points or 0.9 points in 12 games played (three wins and two draws). Dnipro earned 8 points or 1.6 points for Ukraine – three wins and two draws. Zarya and Vorskla brought 0.2 points each.
We also note the success of Italy, which retained six of its clubs until the quarter-final stage. Well, how to get past the results of Belgium, from which three teams will play in the 1/4 finals. Union continues to fight in the Europa League, Anderlecht and Gent in the Conference League.
