Referee Karasev explained why, most likely, he will not be able to referee the match of the Russian football Super Cup

FIFA referee Sergei Karasev in an interview with , he admitted that for objective reasons, most likely, he would not be able to serve in the match for the Russian football Super Cup.

In the match for the Russian Super Cup, the national champion Zenit Saint-Petersburg and the owner of the Russian Cup Spartak Moscow will meet. The official date of the match has not yet been announced, the preliminary match could take place on July 9.

– My priority now is to recover, because, unfortunately, I suffered calf muscle damage, – Karasev answered when asked if he is ready for the Russian Super Cup. – A rather specific injury, I have never encountered such a thing in my life. Every day I go to the physiotherapists: rehabilitation, training. Whatever is necessary for recovery, I do. And I don’t think about it (working at the Super Bowl – editor’s note). There are many worthy referees who can officiate this game.

– And what about the terms of recovery?

– It’s hard to say, because I haven’t encountered such an injury yet. I have to recover first, then get in shape. At the end of June, there should be a training camp in Moscow. I hope that by then – which is to say that I have almost a month left – to recover and take tests with everyone.
