Tomorrow the national team of Ukraine will play against Ireland
Midfielder of the national team of Ukraine Sergei Sidorchuk said that the coaching staff set the team the task of returning to the elite division League of Nations.
Tomorrow the Ukrainian national team will start a new draw of the tournament after losing to Wales (0:1) in the finals of the World Cup qualification.
“We are starting a new tournament. The coaching staff set the task – to return to League ‘A’. We will start doing this. Those who played with Wales rested, and we practiced a bit and did some tactical work,” Sidorchuk said.
“After the game in Cardiff, the pain, nothing is over yet – the wound is bleeding. The beauty of football is that you always get a second chance. After the match with Wales, the dressing room was such an atmosphere that I have not seen in my entire football life. Heavy atmosphere, silence. But then we saw in social networks what people were saying and writing. It became easier to bear it. I want to thank all the fans, all the people in Ukraine who watched the matches and wrote us wishes.”
“What stopped Wales from scoring? Only the goalkeeper, I think. We looked at the statistics, reviewed the moments in the repeat. Only goalkeeper. As for the unassigned penalty, I think it was. But what was, was. I think that the referee has already got it from our fans.”
“The guys supported Andriy Yarmolenko. It is already easier for him, but he still needs time to recover and mentally move away from this fight. He is our leader. We will help him. We’re moving forward.”
Tomorrow, June 8, the team of Alexander Petrakov in Dublin will play against Ireland. The match starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
Also, the national teams of Armenia and Scotland were in the same group of the League of Nations with the Ukrainians. Only the winner of the quartet will make it to the elite division of the tournament.
