Miron Markevich: Now I see no reason to change the coach of the national team

Ukrainians showed decent football in the match against Wales

Former coach of Metalist and Dnipro Miron Markevich does not expect changes in the position of head coach of the Ukrainian national team.

The 71-year-old Ukrainian himself is ready to return to coaching, which he left in 2016.

“I’m not sure if it’s worth changing the coach now. Because of one defeat, you don’t need to shoot a person, especially since the team looked good, ”said Markevich.

“They won’t offer me, that’s already clear.”

“Of course I want [продолжить работу]. God willing, I’ll work for a couple more years. Today there are no proposals, but tomorrow they may appear. If they do not appear, then it’s okay, I have worked for more than 30 years. And in the national team now I see no reason to change the coach.

Markevych left Dnipro in 2016, after which he served as the head of the national teams committee in the Ukrainian Football Association.

The Ukrainian national team led by Oleksandr Petrakov failed to qualify for the World Cup, losing to Wales (0:1) in the qualification final.

On Wednesday, June 8, Ukrainians will play against Ireland in the League of Nations. The match starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
