Robinho’s defense pronounces after STJ minister’s decision

After the STJ minister, Francisco Falcão, set a deadline for contesting the Italian government’s request, Robinho’s defense in a note sent to Athletistic

After the Italian government officialized the request for the player Robinho fulfill his sentence for the conviction of rape in Brazil, the minister of the STJ, Francisco Falcão, gave a period of 15 days for the defense to prevent this from happening. If there is no dispute by the player’s lawyers, the European country’s request must be accepted.

In an official note sent to the sportbuzzthe athlete’s advisory commented on the decision and confirmed that he will appeal: “The defense of the player Robinho, led by the lawyer José Eduardo Alckmin, considers the documents essential and will appeal the decision of the Minister Francisco Falcão, rapporteur of the process“.

It is worth noting that this defense will be made only for discussion whether or not it is valid to serve the sentence in Brazilian territory, since Robinho was convicted in Italy. Still in the decision, the minister denied the request of one of the defense lawyers for the government of the European country to present a full translated copy of the process.

However, as stated in the sentence submitted for ratification, the interested party was regularly represented by a lawyer appointed by him, with no reason to presume any precise and objective indication, that there was an irregularity in the foreign procedure“, wrote the minister.

The request was a way of trying to drag out the process, seeking more time to prepare the defense, since the aforementioned period, of 15 days, began to run from the moment the Minister’s decision was announced. It is worth remembering that the player is still in Santos, where he lives, waiting for the process to unfold.
