Alexander Startsev will replace Sergei Anokhin on the executive committee Russian Football Union (RFU), this was announced at the General Assembly of the Moscow Football Federation (MFF).
Anokhin announced in May that he had resigned as a member of the RFU’s executive committee due to cooperation with a bookmaker, and also left the post of head of the MFF. Startsev was elected president of the IFF on Monday following a vote.
– I am grateful for the trust, my position is not a desk or an armchair, I don’t even have that. We know that there is still a lot to do, we know our shortcomings. I know firsthand the situation of football in Moscow. Any issues will be resolved promptly. I want to thank the previous team. I want to thank Anokhin, we have been working together for 10 years. He was my partner, my friend. We have always found beneficial solutions,” noted Startsev.
