Ireland coach Kenny: Ukrainian football players, coaches, all staff of their team are ambassadors of their state

The mentor also praised Petrakov’s team for their playing qualities

Ireland head coach Stephen Kenny spoke about the upcoming League of Nations match against Ukraine. The Irish mentor praised the blue-yellows, and also noted a possible change in the game model during the match.

“We have an unusual game ahead of us. Ukrainian football players, coaches, all the staff of their team are ambassadors of their state, in which there is chaos and thousands of deaths. Wherever they come to perform, they find themselves in the epicenter of the attention of the local media. It’s understandable,” Kenny said.

“We know that Ukraine has been changing its game model, primarily in midfield, right in the course of the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign. In blue-yellow, there is a great depth of composition. Everyone saw the last two matches of the Ukrainians. With them, especially in the match against Scotland, our opponent showed real class.

Earlier, Ireland started in the new Nations League with a minimal defeat from Armenia (0:1). The Ukrainians will play the first match in the new tournament.

The fight in Dublin will take place on June 8 and starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
