Russian goalkeeping coach Vitaly Kafanov told RB Sport about the goalkeeper’s playing errors Matvey Safonov in a friendly match against Iran.
The meeting in Tehran ended with the score 1:1. Penalty goals were scored by Anton Miranchuk and Mehdi Taremi. Safonov spent all 90 minutes on the pitch.
– The fact that Matvey is dissatisfied with his game suggests that he is very demanding of himself. It gives us, the coaches, hope for his future progress. Matvey is a talented goalkeeper, I would like him to realize his full potential in football.
Goalkeeper errors are divided into two categories: technical faults and incorrect decisions. Matthew had both. He started the attack very well, given that the club withdrew from the previous principles of kicking the ball out of the gate due to short and medium passes. He chose the direction of the start of the attack correctly,” Kafanov noted.
