Former Lokomotiv defender Renat Yanbayev admitted to Metaratings.ru that he wanted to stay in “Zenith” where he performed on loan.
In the 2012/13 season, Yanbaev was loaned to Zenit for six months, played 13 matches and scored just one goal.
– You only spent six months at Zenit and returned to “Locomotive” …
– I wanted to stay. Simutenkov (Zenith coach – approx.) said to prepare for training camp, but Kirill Kotov said to come back. I told him clearly that I didn’t want to come back. I played in the group, I really wanted to continue playing at Zenit. Then I had a restart in my career, Capello was called up to the national team. And then – bam, a call: “You’re coming back to Lokomotiv.
And I didn’t play against Bilić at the start of the season, because I had never played against Couseiro before. Therefore, it was a shame for me to leave the place where I felt good. Zenith was great. The most important thing is that Spalletti wanted to see me and trusted me. Now you can already say that Zenit wanted to buy me several times from Lokomotiv, but it didn’t work out.
– Could something be fixed?
– When Zenit made an offer, I didn’t play and I was ready to leave under any conditions. I didn’t even notice that there was a clause that Zenit didn’t have the right to buy out, and Lokomotiv could fire me at any time. If I had approached the rental contract a little more carefully, I probably could have competed for a place at Zenit.
Is Malcom close to the Hulk?
Both are left-handed and technical guys. Malcom looks very powerful, but Hulk looks stronger. Then the championship was more serious and Hulk dragged the team alone.
Yanbaev played for the capital team from 2007 to 2017. Because of his 237 matches, 2 goals and 17 assists.
