Former footballer of “Krasnodar” and “Wings of the Soviets” Ruslan Adzhindzhal told in an interview with how in 1992 his uncle forbade him to go to the war that had started in Abkhazia.
Adzhindzhal was born in Sukhum. The war in Abkhazia began in 1992. At that time, the midfielder played for friendship Maikop.
‘The war had already started when you were in Maykop. You recalled how your brother Beslan and all his relatives found themselves in Sukhum when the hostilities began. how was it for you?
“Of course we discussed it with all the family and friends afterwards. This is the most difficult and difficult period for all of Abkhazia in general. These events will forever be etched in people’s memories. When everything happened, I was in Maikop, because I was injured. Because of her, he couldn’t go home with Beslan. Club leaders asked to stay and heal. As a result, at such a terrible time, I was left alone. I knew the war had started and I didn’t understand where my family was. He had no information about his relatives and friends.
– I read how your uncle forbade you to go to war, when you wanted to. Tell me.
– I met my uncle in Chechnya when I was going to the front. It was impossible to simply cross the border. There were already Georgian troops. As a result, the volunteers passed through Chechnya, the only way to get to Abkhazia over the pass. We went with comrade Tamaz Yenik. There we met my uncle. He said to Tamaz, “Take it and go back where you came from. We’ll get by without you.” All that remained was to come back.
– Then the family came to Maikop. How did they manage to pass?
– A ship appeared that began to transport children, women and the elderly from Gudauta to Sochi, if I’m not mistaken. That is, there was a kind of corridor along which it was possible to get there. So the family arrived.
Hard times. During the war, it does not happen that someone feels good and pleasant. All those parents who could fight did. Father, uncle, brothers, friends, neighbors… They defended their country. It wasn’t even necessary to ask or persuade anyone. Georgians who lived in our country also fought alongside Abkhazia.
