The re-elected president of the Union of European Football Associations spoke about the return of the aggressor country.
Alexander Ceferin, who was re-elected today as UEFA President, spoke about the possible return of Russian football.
The 55-year-old Slovenian is convinced that in the near future the Russian national team and clubs from the aggressor country will not be allowed to participate in international competitions. Changes are possible only if the war in Ukraine ends.
“My personal opinion is that until the war stops, it will be very difficult for us to change anything.
My heart breaks for Russian athletes who are innocent and do not normally participate in our competitions.
But as long as this war continues, as long as this madness continues, there must be this kind of pressure,” Čeferin said as quoted by Reuters.
