The UPL club will try to keep its entire backbone and sign a few newcomers
Main coach Ingulets Sergey Lavrinenko spoke about how the team will prepare for the new UPL season. The mentor noted that the legionnaires are not yet ready to return to the location of the club.
“When do we plan to meet? After June 20 – I already, in principle, wrote to the guys in the general chat – in the coming days we plan to announce the exact date. Maybe it will be June 23-24. And we will gradually prepare for the championship. We will prepare at our base,” Lavrinenko said.
Are the Legionnaires ready to return? To date, no. Even those legionnaires who are 50/50 are thinking about returning … They have their families, parents, brothers and sisters who say: ‘We won’t let you in’. If you look objectively, probably, our football players, if they played in some country where there would be a war, it is unlikely that relatives would say: ‘Okay, go play football’. Nobody would say that.”
“There are players whose contracts are ending now. But this is a normal process, we understand that this is a negotiation process – we will communicate, try to keep our entire backbone. And I am sure that we will be able to take someone from other teams. Because it’s not so easy now in other teams.”
At the end of the 2021/22 season, Ingulets finished 14th in the UPL standings. The championship ended ahead of schedule due to the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. The new football season is scheduled to start in August.
