President of the Polish Football Union: Ukrainian clubs are negotiating to hold European Cup matches in Poland

The option of holding some matches of the championship of Ukraine in Poland is also being considered.

President of the Polish Football Union Caesar Kulesha commented on the option of holding European Cup matches of Ukrainian teams in Poland.

– The Ukrainian national team will play two matches of the League of Nations in Poland. Is there an agreement that our team will continue to play their home matches at Polish stadiums?

“It all depends on the circumstances, but we said from the very beginning that we would organize the whole process so that our friends from the eastern border would not need anything. If there is the will and desire of the Ukrainian side, then we are at your service.

— Did Dynamo, Shakhtar and other Ukrainian clubs turn to you for help in order to hold their European Cup matches in Poland?

— I know that such negotiations are being held between the clubs, and we, the Polish Football Association, support the entire process from the legislative and logistical sides. When the time comes, all parties will certainly communicate the details, but we do not want to say something out of turn in this case.

– In Ukraine, they are still deciding in what format to hold the next football championship. There is talk of a variant where several teams can play their matches in Poland. What is your position on this issue?

— When it comes to matches of the Ukrainian championship, a lot depends on logistics issues. There were many possible scenarios in the media. Among other things, that matches can be played in Turkey due to the hotel infrastructure that football teams have been using for years during training camps. However, recently we heard information that the games will be held in Ukraine.

It was reported that the clubs of the Ukrainian Premier League are ready to hold the next championship in Ukraine and Poland.

It is expected that Shakhtar, Dynamo, Dnipro-1, Zorya and Vorskla may be allowed to host their rivals in the domestic championship in Poland, where the teams want to play nominally home matches in European competition.
