In the second half, the best chances for the Czech Republic came after mistakes by the Portuguese defense. In the 14th minute, Guerreiro missed a pass after a short corner kick and the Czechs started on the counterattack. Jurecka received it on the right, invaded the area and kicked it across, but the ball went out to the left of Diogo Costa’s goal!
In the next move Portugal went to the attack. Gonçalo Guedes crossed from the right, the defense cleared it and Diogo Jota dominated the leftover, took it to the middle, and kicked hard, but Stanek spread the ball. Then, at 24, it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s turn to receive from the left and shoot low, but he stopped in a new save by the Czech goalkeeper!
Until, in the 40th minute, Rúben Neves played wrong, Vlkanova steals the ball, entered the area free of charge from the left side and finished with a left-handed shot, but ended up sending it out, wasting the Czech Republic’s last chance to decrease: 2 to 0 on the scoreboard. Final!
