Inter beat Benfica in Champions League quarter-finals
Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi commented on the success of his team in Champions League quarter-final With Benfica.
“We are very happy. This is an important evening for the whole of Inter – we played a great match and deserved an overall victory against a great team that had only lost twice in eight months before meeting us.”
“We deserve this semi-final. It was a dream, but now we are in the semi-finals and we will play big. I am happy for the guys and for their journey. We started with a very difficult group with Bayern and Barcelona, but we were good, united together with the fans who helped us a lot. We work every day to live these days together, which have been missing here at Inter for many years.”
Inter at home played a draw with Benfica in the second leg of the 1/4 finals of the Champions League (3:3). The first match of the confrontation ended with the victory of Inzaghi’s team – 2:0. In the 1/2 finals of the Champions League, Inter will play with Milan.
Real Madrid and Manchester City will also play in the 1/2 finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 9-10, the second legs are scheduled for May 16-17.
