Antofagasta falls to Beccacece’s Defense and Justice on his South American debut

The Transandean coach’s team defeated the Pumas, in the debut of both in the continental tournament, and if anyone had any doubts about the candidacy of the former assistant of Sampaoli to the red bench, this duel contributed to dissipate them.

Antofagasta’s debut in the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana had a particular morbidity: One of the bench candidates for the national team, Sebastián Beccacece, was visiting the country in charge of Defense and Justice.

And those who raise their name to the technical direction of the Reds found no resistance from the Pumas, as the Argentine cast had their first chance after five minutes at the feet of striker Raúl Loaiza and at nine he scored his first goal: the Chilean team lost the ball early and Carlos Rotondi allowed Walter Bou, so the former Boca – with an unstoppable left-footed shot – beat Diego Sánchez .

A hard blow that Andrés Robles tried to soften with a Chilean in the 15th minute, but he couldn’t even encourage his teammates because they never again reached the goal defended by Adonis Uriel Frías with danger. Moreover, it was the team of former assistant Jorge Sampaoli who – with a deadly backlash – increased the squad: Nicolás Tripichio ends the game launched by Bou and allows the race and the cross of Miguel Merentiel (28th).

From then on, the northerners could be beaten and only Gabriel Torres tried to salvage the hosts’ honour, however, it was the trans-Andeans who continued to create goalscoring chances. Even halftime didn’t change things and At 56′, Bou, Rotondi and Merentiel got closer again, so much so that the latter scored a third of the evening and dispelled any doubts that might exist about Beccacece’s candidacy on the Chilean bench.

Even if, it must be said, this objective which allowed the awakening of the Chileans, well Marco Collao scored a superb goal from midfield (82nd), after recovering a loose ball, and Torres shook the Transandean stick after a conspicuous personal blow. Unfortunately for them, it was already too late and now the Pumas will have to go to Quito to look for points, if they want to continue fighting in Group F, where they will face LDU (Tuesday 12, at 8:30 p.m.), those who have just lost 4-0 with Atlético Goianiense.
