Abel Ferreira comments on Palmeiras’ rout and asks for calm

Abel Ferreira commented on Palmeiras’ victory over Botafogo in the tenth round of the Brazilian Championship and asked the fans to calm down, remembering that the competition is just at the beginning.

On Thursday night, the 9th, the palm trees received the Botafogo at Allianz Parque in a match valid for the tenth round of the Brazilian Championship. After defeats of Corinthians and Atlético-MG, Verdão entered the field knowing that it only depended on a victory to reach the isolated leadership of the competition.

Playing well and taking advantage of most of the opportunities, Palmeiras ran over the carioca team and won the match 4-0. Supported by their fans, the Alviverde team still scored twice, but had both goals disallowed for offside. Commenting on victory and leadership, Abel Ferreira went straight to asking for calm.

We haven’t won anything, 28 games to go. Only you have doubts about what I say about the competitiveness of Brazilian football, see the table of the Brasileirão and other championships for the difference between the first and the second. Only in the Brasileirão is it possible for the last player to win at the house of the first place. In no other league does this happen. They are super competitive teams, there are many title contenders in Brazil and only one will win. They can have 12 Guardiolas, 12 Mourinhos and only one who will be champion. We won’t always win, we need to keep calm, balance because we don’t win anything. 28 games to go, that’s a long time“, commented the coach.

Even keeping his feet on the ground, Abel did not fail to praise the Palmeiras fans, who came to support the team in a match in the middle of the week, at a complicated time and with a lot of rain. With about 33,431 people supporting the team, now leader of the Brazilian Championship, the coach was proud and impressed.

This is what we work for every day, to bring joy to the fans. I clapped my hands for them because they made a wave and it was beautiful to see. We are all one is this. I don’t need to explain if it’s a coach, board, players, employees, fans. See the joy, passion and love and we can’t forget that we are the team of love and change and we count on them in difficult times. In the difficult moments of the season, the fans were able to encourage us. We only turned the result around for the love they have for the club“, commented.
