Andrey Mostovoy: ‘I’m following the stats this season, it’s important, I’m an attacking player’

Midfielder “Zenith » Andrei Mostovoy said that the statistics of effective actions in the current season are of great importance to him.

On Saturday, the St. Petersburg club beat Moscow “Dynamo ” in the match of the 24th round of WORLD RPL (3: 1), Mostovoy came on and scored a goal. This season, the midfielder has scored six goals and provided five assists for the Bleu-Blanc-Bleu.

– During recent matches, an interesting trend has developed – if Zenit scores, then at least once a substitute player does. Tell me frankly, were you specially spared for the pleasure of an early goal?

– I don’t know, a question for the head coach (smile). The task was unique – to go out, help the team to score. I fulfilled my task, I think: I helped the team, scored, won. The atmosphere is good, we are going towards our cherished objective.

– You scored your 20th goal for Zenit: how closely do you monitor your stats? How important is this achievement to you?

– No, I don’t follow all the statistics of my career at Zenit, but I follow this season. Goals, assists. Of course, it’s important: I’m an attacking player. It’s good that we have two birthdays: one hundred matches and twenty goals.

– Do you feel like a veteran, a former member of the club?

– I don’t feel like half of the players have played more games than me. Almost three years in the team, I feel confident. Everything is fine, I like everything (smile), – the Zenith site quotes the words of Mostovoy.

Zenit scored 58 points and increased their lead over second-placed Rostov (46), who play Sunday on the road with Ural Yekaterinburg.
