The division of the fee in the Usyk-Dubois fight can be 75 to 25
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyksaid that he expects an answer on a joint battle from the team Daniel Dubois in the next few days.
“We made them an offer – and whether it will be accepted, we will find out literally today or tomorrow. We openly said that we are talking about Poland, talked about the circumstances. I have no doubt that Frank Warren, his son George and the entire Queensberry Promotions group actively support Ukraine – from the first days of the war they were in close contact with the ambassador of our country in the UK, undertook various initiatives, organized fundraising.
“Decisions will be made based on commercial considerations. If for some reason our proposal does not suit Dubois and he does not want to sign the contract, then we can proceed to the promotional tender procedure. And the organization that has prepared a higher financial offer will receive the right to organize the fight. Then it would be in our favor for Usyk as a champion to have a guaranteed 75 percent of the stake, and Dubois as a contender – 25. This obviously means that we do not have the right to organize a fight yet, but we will do our best to make it happen. .
“Like I said, Fury is due to fight on July 22nd. Organizing Usyk and Fury on the same night for commercial purposes would obviously be a shot in the leg. It would be nice to separate them for at least three weeks.”
“Not before because, firstly, we have a lot of work to do, and secondly, we know that Dubois was injured in one of the matches leading up to Fury’s fight with Derek Chisora in December 2022, and he needs some time, to recover and properly prepare. So I would say that a date at the turn of July and August is possible.
Earlier Krasyuk said that three potential places are being considered for the fight with Dubois. Great Britain remains the main option, and the fight can also be organized in Poland and the Middle East.
The WBA has ordered Usyk to defend his title against Daniel Dubois and set a 30-day deadline to agree on the details of the fight. Usyk said that he plans to fight the Briton at the end of the summer.
Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, said that if there is no progress in negotiations with Dubois, then the matter will end with promotional bidding, and the fight itself can be held in late July – early August.
