The broadcaster will fulfill all obligations under the contract this season
Setanta Sports announced termination of the contract with UPL broadcasting matches.
“Setanta Sports is an international broadcaster operating in 15 countries in Europe and Asia. In difficult times for the country, we continue to support Ukraine, fans and our customers by investing in the development of the sports industry.”
“Thank you to the clubs that transferred the rights and supported Setanta Sports and the UPL in an attempt to create a single pool. However, as part of the agreement with the league, Setanta Sports was not able to fully use the media rights: some clubs did not transfer the rights to the UPL to broadcast the matches they organized and played.
“In view of the above, Setanta Sports has made the decision not to renew its agreement with the UPL, but remains open to partnerships. We are ready to discuss new terms of cooperation based on fairness and compliance with all rules of the league regulations and the laws of Ukraine.”
“We are confident that a compromise can be found with which all parties will be satisfied with the agreement. As we noted, Setanta Sports is broadcast in 15 countries. And we will continue to popularize UPL clubs and their players far beyond the borders of Ukraine, if we can reach appropriate agreements.”
“All obligations under the UPL agreement will be fulfilled by Setanta Sports in full before the end of the season.”
Recall that the contract of Setanta Sports with the UPL was designed for 3 years. Five clubs refused to fulfill the terms of the contract – Rukh, Metallist, Dynamo, Zarya and Dnepr-1. Matches of these teams are broadcast on 1+1 Media channels.
