Venezuelan footballer Machis faces up to 1.5 years in prison for fighting – media

The public prosecutor’s office of the Spanish city of Granada requested the striker of the football club “Grenade” Darwin’s Machis 18 months in prison for injuring two canteen workers, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The alleged incident took place in April last year. Machis and the other two defendants appeared in a dining hall in Churriana de la Vega, where a clerk and a cook were present, according to the indictment.

The prosecution alleges that the defendants got out “hastily” of the car, acted in concert, and that a fight broke out between the two employees of the establishment and the footballer and his companions. As a result, workers suffered injuries that took 30 days to heal, 20 of which were preventive measures. The 29-year-old Granada player was also injured, treatment – 14 days (7 – preventive measures).

In addition to 18 months in prison, the prosecution asks Machis and the two defendants to compensate the two victims respectively for 4,725 and 1,525 euros.

Machis has been playing for Granada since 2019, in the 2021/22 season he made 26 appearances, scored four goals and provided three assists. Due to his 37 games and nine goals for the Venezuela national team.
