Harsh criticism from the Ukrainian coach
Mentor Kryvbas Yuriy Vernidub in an interview with journalist Roman Bebekh for the Sport Arena YouTube channel, he criticized Donetsk Shakhtar for requests to postpone the match of the 17th round of the UPL.
“Refusal to Shakhtar to postpone the match? I will never go forward [Шахтеру]. There is a regulation. Shakhtar is the same club as Kryvbas. I don’t see any difference in this. We are used to making special conditions.”
“Now the most important thing begins, the most interesting thing is the fight for the Champions League money. Everyone will carry on their hands and tell that only they. Well, here’s how the Lions, who are fighting for survival, can let the same Miner play in the Lviv Arena. I don’t get it, it’s kind of a joke to me. And I would never allow that as a coach. They say that these points are for all clubs because they know that their task is to take the number one place and get money for the Champions League and feel at ease again. Everything is already planned there, who should be the first, second, third. I do not believe that these are the interests of Ukrainian football. And no one can prove to me that this is so. It’s not, and I know it 100%.”
“It’s all for the weak, it’s whining, crying, it’s so hard. You have 30 players, three squads. This is for me if you scrape together 10-15 players, then it’s good. All the best Ukrainians who played in Europe have returned and are now playing at Shakhtar.”
The Kryvyi Rih residents did not want to postpone the match with the Pitmen in the 17th round of the UPL (3:0), which took place between Shakhtar’s matches in the Europa League. As a result, before the game in Krivoy Rog, Shakhtar spent more than 15 hours on the road.
After the match, Shakhtar’s director of football, Darijo Srna, spoke about “an ugly football decision by Kryvbas”. In turn, the vice-president of Kryvbas Artem Gagarin spoke about the “real football principle.”
Kryvbas is in 8th place in the UPL standings. The Vernydub team will host Alexandria on April 29.
