Sports director and head of the agency Alexander Manyakov, in an interview with , revealed his opinion on the requirements for public figures to speak out about events in Ukraine.
– You communicate well with Krasnodar. Were you not offended by the way businessman Oleg Tinkov spoke about (club owner Sergei) Galitsky?
– I think Oleg is a very talented person, a great businessman, but at the same time he is a narcissistic weathervane. And it’s been proven over and over again. He is a mature personality and opinions change all the time. Well, how can one and the same journalist say one thing at first, and after a few years – completely different. I don’t think people can radically reconsider their outlook on life at this age.
– What do you generally think of appeals to public figures to express their position on Ukraine?
– Extremely negative. It’s pure provocation. A public person has the right not to express his point of view. Because behind him, there are people who depend on him. And after saying something, he will hit them first.
– Ilya Gerkus, in an interview with , said that after expressing his position on the special operation (support for the army and Russia), he received death wishes even from people that he knew.
I have a lot of respect for Ilya. I consider him one of the best sports managers in Russia. It is a pity that it is not in demand now – with all its potential, thoughts. I hope it’s temporary.
The fact that he spoke about it is a definitive position. After his first interview – on YouTube to Sasha Muizhnek – I wrote him an SMS saying that it’s a great interview and a man’s position, that he is entitled to it. He replied that the conversation was difficult.
And to those who wish death on him, I always say, “If you have any questions, come and tell him to his face. No need for insults and so on. Just say. And if not, go ahead…. we’re not on our way.
– To what extent does your position coincide with what Herkus said?
– I swore to discuss the subject of the special operation. I have many good friends in Ukraine, my colleagues, with whom we cooperated closely. They live there. I sincerely hope this all ends as soon as possible and everyone is alive and well.
