Castro praises young players after qualifying

Botafogo coach Luís Castro was sincere about the youth in the squad after another victory in the Copa do Brasil against Ypiranga, which guaranteed a place in the round of 16

Luis Castrotechnician of Botafogoopened the game on the youngest members of the squad after qualifying for the round of 16 in Brazil’s Cup over the Ypiranga. In a press conference, the commander highlighted that quality is not necessarily linked to age, but to the particular characteristics of each athlete.

“Individually, I think that what should be a strong part of club life, in addition to winning, is to provide younger players with an appearance and start their journey in a more visible way for the press”emphasized Castro. “This has been done so far, which is to keep them, work on them, make them grow and then present them in a team that sustains them”.

The trainer added: “They proved once again that quality has no age. When you have it, you have it. It appears at any time of the season, in any stadium and against any opponent. That’s what stands out the most”. In addition, Castro pointed out what he likes to see on the field in relation to his team’s dynamics.

“What interests me most during games is how the players move collectively, how they attack, defend, transit, how they are on the dead ball, how they perform what is their task. And, overall, they all performed the task well against a team that had caused a lot of problems against Grêmio, against a team that had eliminated RB Bragantino”said the Portuguese.

“Many times we look and the temptation is to say it will be accessible. But only we could make it accessible, through our work, the way we approach the game, the seriousness, honesty that we would go to the game.”. O Botafogo returns to the field for the classic against Flamengoon Sunday, 30, for Série A of the Brasileirão.
