Sport Arena names the symbolic team of the next UPL round of the 2022/23 season, as well as the best in individual nominations, which determine our website
Goalkeeper – Andriy Klischuk (Kryvbas)
Alexandria entered this tour in a long unbeaten streak, and under the leadership of Rotan, they never suffered defeat at all. The guests had opportunities to score, but the goalkeeper of Kryvbas Klishchuk rescued after several shots from Sigeev, Tretyakov, Skorka. I missed only in the end – it was hard to save in the course of the right combination played out. However, the guests no longer had time for this goal to shake the winning advantage of the hosts.
Right back – Nikita Bezugly (Metalst 1925)
The angleless second round in a row started at the position of the right fullback, and during the game Zhichikov replaced Kapinus and Nikita, as in the last round, successfully rebuilt during the match. He started the game in Minaj extremely unsuccessfully, roughly driving into an opponent and from the third minute “hanging” on a yellow card. Even in the 33rd minute, he could open the scoring when he closed the set piece and sent the ball very close to the post. In the second half, he successfully took a corner from Vachiberadze and scored with his knee, successfully playing positionally. Neither Nikita nor any other Kharkiv team is to blame for the ball conceded from the penalty spot. A strategically important draw has been won.
Central defender – Alexander Sirota (Dynamo)
It seems that Sirota intends to use his new chance to prove himself in the first club team in full. Not only does he play with far fewer blunders than the competition, but he also plays with more focus and focus. He is still actively involved in attacks. In the match against Metalist, he could score even earlier, opening the scoring with a beautifully aimed shot from his left foot after a regular cross pass. This is performance.
Central defender – Timur Stetskov (Kryvbas)
One can imagine the motivation of a player who went against his own team. Stetskov not only worked selflessly (although not without mistakes) in defense, he also distinguished himself in front. It was Timur who connected to Tatarkov’s corner, taking advantage of the brilliant discount of another ex-Alexandrian, Zaderaki, and opened the scoring after the break. And in the end, it was with the wonderful selection of Stetskov that the second effective (actually winning) combination of the Kryvyi Rihians began.
Left back – Konstantin Vivcharenko (Dynamo)
Vivcharenko opened the scoring with his goals in the championship (not in the season as a whole – we remember Kostya’s European Cup goal) quite deservedly. Before shooting the gate after Buyalsky’s pass, Dynamo’s left fullback shot twice more from different positions. Great combining with the same Buyalsky, as well as Kabaev and Diallo, Konstantin was an active participant in many sharp attacks, and it was from the left flank that there was a big threat to the Kharkiv goal.
Central midfielder – Valery Kucherov (Veres)
The match with PFC Lviv was surprisingly important for the Rivne residents, both considering the current situation in the tournament and the historical component (too much connects the two clubs both in the intersection of history and general shots). In principle, Veres won the long-awaited first victory in 2023 and at the renovated Avangard stadium with the help of Kucherov. He equalized on debut with a flashy long-range shot from the rebound and later provided an assist to Bliznichenko. A 3-2 victory would not have been possible without Valery’s large amount of work in the center of the field and these two effective actions.
Right midfielder – Artem Bondarenko (Shakhtar)
We put Bondarenko to the right, bearing in mind the breadth of Shakhtar’s attacking midfielders under the existing tactical scheme. In Kovalevka, Artem was indeed ubiquitous: it was he who converted the penalty for Chobotenko’s handball, equalizing the score immediately after the break. Then he assisted Traore, who put the Miners ahead in five minutes, and in the end he had to score after a corner, hitting the post – Kelsey played on the rebound. Bondarenko was involved in all the goals in the match with Kolos, gave out a number of sharp passes, contributed to the strong-willed victory of the leader to the maximum.
Attacking midfielder – Vitaly Buyalsky (Dynamo)
Even before the break, Buyalsky was in the spotlight, creating some of the most dangerous moments at the gates of Metallist: not only could he score himself, but also handed out excellent passes to his teammates – Benito and Sirota, after the break Vanat even scored from Vitaly’s pass and offside. Buyalsky gave a pre-goal pass to Kabaev in the moment with Vanat’s goal, and in the end he made an assist to Vivcharenko’s goal, giving an excellent pass under the blow.
Left midfielder – Yuriy Klimchuk (Rukh)
For Rukh now, every point is worth its weight in gold, and Klimchuk is the one who led the team in the match with Vorskla, which is now in good shape. Already in the opening, Yuri almost squeezed the maximum out of his rivals’ second inattention. Later, with Solomon, he broke the right flank of the Poltava defense, forcing the goalkeeper to save the guests after hitting from an acute angle. At the end of the game, when the Lviv team were losing, it was Klimchuk who boldly took the ball, earned a penalty for his opponent in the fight against Yavorsky, and converted a 11-meter kick. This draw allowed Rukha to leave the immediate relegation zone, given the defeat of Metalist by Dynamo.
Forward – Artem Dovbik (SK Dnepr-1)
Eight goals in five matches in April is the best scoring streak this season. Dovbik scored in every match this month! So in the game against Ingulets, Artem felt very confident on the field. First of all, he played for the team: at least twice Gutsulyak had to score from convenient passes of his attacker, and Dovbyk also scored at his own goal, interrupting the promising serve of his opponents at one of the moments. Another goal – albeit from a penalty kick – continues the successful streak of the scorer himself, brings him closer to Mkhitaryan’s historical record and helps Dnipro-1 keep up with the leader.
Forward – Eduardo Guerrero (Zorya)
Guerrero just breaks the UPL. In the match with Chernomorets, who has not the worst defensive link in the championship, Eduardo scored himself, assisted Rusin and gave at least two more magnificent passes, which did not become goals only because of the shortcomings of his teammates. We have only two questions: first, why are our scouts not looking for such Guerreros when they are so inexpensive in their home championships? Second, who has already entered into negotiations to buy out his contract from the Israelis?

In the last rounds, Dnipro-1, it seems, did not play at all in the optimal composition. The crisis with the injured forced Kucher even to rearrange the wingers in defense, to resort to numerous changes in the start. Even after winning the last match with Rukh, I had to change three positions in the starting lineup in order to avoid previous mistakes. This was done: although Ingulets, under the leadership of Kovalets, is surprisingly successful in 2023, and had previously taken points from Dnipro more than once, this time they outplayed the opponent in a situation where it was impossible to lose points.
- Analysis from the All-Ukrainian Association of Football Coaches – here.
The 18-year-old Venezuelan is progressing quite quickly in Shakhtar. Already at the beginning of his stay at the club, in European competition, he was remembered for the decisive post-match penalty with Rennes and the prestige goal with Feyenoord. In the championship it is celebrated with a goal scored for the third time. Surprisingly appreciates every second of the game – he tries to work out the trust of the coach, and in Kovalevka he took off the nerves of the last minutes, successfully playing on rebounds ..
- Sport Arena stats: 7 league matches, 3 goals.
He scored himself, took part in other effective combinations – in the debut match, acting. Vanat played well against head coach Alexander Shovkovsky and made a great contribution to the victory over Metalist. Of course, in terms of his status, he is no longer a beginner, but we must remember that Vladislav is only 21 years old. And he has already proved that it is necessary to solve the striker’s problem not with the help of veteran midfielders or dubious acquisitions, but with great attention to their own pets.
- Sport Arena stats: 21 league games, 9 goals, 2 assists.
The striker, who was not even called up to the Panama national team this year, managed to conquer the Premier League. In six matches, Guerrero has seven effective actions, and van Leeuwen proved that even in the championship of a belligerent country, you can bring an inexpensive loaned legionnaire, and at the same time he will have absolutely the right sports motivation. We will not be surprised if some domestic giants have already sent a request to Maccabi (Tel Aviv) to acquire Eduardo.
- Sport Arena stats: 6 league matches, 3 goals, 4 assists.
He is involved with absolutely all the chairmen of his team in Kovalevka. As a result, it is from such small steps that a big journey consists. Those who criticize strong-willed victories, minimal victories, forget that they give exactly the same three points as for a hurricane rout (after which there may be a decline for several rounds). And when, if the path is passed well, each of these steps will be called “champion victories.”
- Sport Arena stats: 22 league games, 6 goals, 4 assists.
