Chalov, who worked with Spartak’s new coach, spoke to Bilyaletdinov about the Spaniard’s working methods

Former midfielder “Spartacus” and the Russian team Diniyar Bilyaletdinov told that the new Rouge-Blanc coach Guillermo Abascal imprisoned for tactics and enjoys teaching theory. Bilyaletdinov learned this from the CSKA striker Fyodor Chalova who worked under the guidance of a Spanish specialist in Basel.

– Were you surprised by the new coach of Spartak?

– I do not know who it is. But now, on business at the CSKA academy, I accidentally met Fedya Chalov, asked him what kind of young man he came from, Bilyaletdinov told . Fedya said he had [Абаскаля] a lot of tactical work, that he is very fond of tactics, likes theoretical studies. Look, he’s only 33. After all, Basel is one thing, Spartak is another. Here the pressure will be several times greater. Plus a new championship, a new country, new conditions.

– Isn’t it strange that Spartak does not call a Russian coach, but a little-known foreigner?

The club has its own vision. The last four coaches are foreigners. Apparently, now such a vector of development. And they don’t even look at Russian coaches.

Honestly, I don’t see any difference between our coaches and foreigners. Of course, ours have a plus insofar as they know the realities of our football, the level of the other teams. But everything is decided by the result and the work.

Spartak announced Abascal’s appointment on June 10. The last club in the Spaniard’s career was Swiss ‘Basel’, where he was interim head coach from February 21. Abascal led the team to national championship silver medals-2021/22. On the eve of Spartak’s post as head coach, 49-year-old Italian Paolo Vanoli left.
