Andorran”Santa Coloma ”, led by a Russian coach Dmitry Cherychev guaranteed participation in European competitions in the 2023/24 season.
On Sunday, Santa Coloma beat Ordino in the 25th round of the Andorran Championship – 3:1. After 25 games played, Cheryshev’s team is in third place in the table with 49 points. Athletic Escaldes are in the lead (57), Inter Escaldes are second (52). These teams will battle it out for the medals in the remaining three rounds.
The winner of the Andorran championship 2022/23 advances to the preliminary qualifying round of the Champions League, the winner of the Cup and vice-champion of the country – to the first qualifying round of the Conference League. If the Cup is won by a team that has already qualified for the Conference League according to the results of the championship, the bronze medalist of the national championship will receive a second ticket for this country’s European Cup. In the final of the country’s Cup, Cheryshev’s team will play with Inter Escaldes. Therefore, regardless of the result, both clubs will play in European competition.
Cheryshev managed Santa Coloma in July 2022. The club are 13 times Andorran champions.
