Catalan club in financial trouble
Forward PSG Lionel Messi unlikely to return Barcelona this summer.
According to journalist Guillem Balague, Barcelona has not yet made Messi an offer for a contract. Due to problems with financial fair play, the Catalan club cannot afford to take a player with a large salary.
Barcelona director Mateu Alemani denied the club’s contacts with Messi. Earlier there was information that Barcelona is working on the first official proposal for Messi. The Catalan club are looking to sign the Argentine as a free agent in July. Messi played for Barcelona from 2003 to 2021.
Recall that Messi is considering the option of moving to Al-Hilal. The club from Saudi Arabia offered the Argentinean a salary of more than 400 million euros per year. Contract renewal talks between Messi and PSG are at an impasse.
Messi has made 37 appearances for PSG in all competitions this season. On account of the Argentine – 20 goals and 19 assists.
Barcelona leads the Spanish league, 11 points ahead of Real Madrid.
