The boxer will organize trips of Ukrainian soldiers to the qualifying matches for Euro 2024

WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk became the ambassador of the national football national team of Ukraine.

“Oleksandr Usyk will help the national team in the implementation of social projects. In particular, in organizing trips to the matches of the team of soldiers who were injured at the front,” said Andriy Pavelko, president of the Ukrainian Football Association.

“The nearest such trip of our Heroes is scheduled for the Euro 2024 qualifier Ukraine-Malta, which will take place in Travi, Slovakia on June 19. Alexander already has relevant experience. With his active participation, we managed to give the warriors a chance to watch the match of the main team in Krakow, where on September 27 last year, the national team met with the team of Scotland as part of the UEFA Nations League 2022/23.”

“In addition, together with the UAF and the national team, Oleksandr Usyk will help implement other social events aimed at rehabilitating the military. This, in particular, is the organization of football tournaments with the participation of participants in the War of Independence of Ukraine, assistance to medical institutions where wounded soldiers are being treated, as well as charity events in support of the families of fallen soldiers and other important areas.”

Earlier, Usyk visited Ukrainian soldiers at the front. The boxer repeatedly met with the military, and also organized the trip of wounded fighters to the championship fight with Anthony Joshua.

In June, the Ukrainian national team will play two qualifying matches for Euro 2024. The Blue-Yellows will face North Macedonia on the 16th of June, and then take on Malta on the 19th of June at home. A new head coach will prepare the national team for the June matches.
