1st half

In a game very marked by the exchange of passes between the two teams, Newell’s Old Boys and Santos created two good chances each during the first half, but wasted both. On the Argentine side, always betting on the long ball in the area, Tica and Aguirre failed to finish in the first minutes of the game and kept the scoreboard at zero.

On the Brazilian side, Mendoza ended up stopping in defense of goalkeeper Hoyos in the 31st minute of the ball rolling and, on another occasion, ended up kicking it out. Thus, the goalless tie remained until the end of the initial stage.

2nd TIME

In the second half, the Brazilian team was even better, creating two clear chances, but Hoyos was inspired and avoided the Santos goal. Already in the final stretch, at 38 minutes, after a cross from the right, and a hit and rebound in the area, the ball was left clean for Gómez, who finished a low cross and opened the scoring for Newell’s Old Boys, guaranteeing the victory of the team from House. 1 to 0!
