Van Leeuwen: I’m happy that our team’s winning streak continues

Lugansk club wins in four rounds in a row

Mentor of Dawn Patrick van Leeuwen pleased with the victory of his team over Veres (1:0) in the match of the 24th round of the UPL. The coach stressed that the pause related to the air raid alert in Ukraine influenced the course of the meeting.

“The game was not very high quality on our part. There were moments to score. Then a goal was scored – its author was team captain Maxim Imerekov. After the air raid, they wanted to finish the match in a simpler way, not to create problems for themselves. We asked the guys to play more concentrated right away. The last 19 minutes it was impossible to concede a goal.

“I’m happy that we won. It is not easy to play a few days after the last match. Another worry… But I’m happy that our team’s streak continues.”

“We always want to give the players a chance after the break to fix what they didn’t manage to do in the first half. And after a while to make replacements. We should have scored at least one goal in the first half.”

“The next match without the suspended Imerekov? Each player can be replaced. We have players in the team who can play as a central defender. He has already missed the game against Shakhtar. Bogdan Butko then played in his place.

Zorya minimally beat Veres thanks to a goal by Imerekov. Note that this is the fourth successive victory of Van Leeuwen’s team in the Premier League.

Zorya is in third place in the UPL standings. In the next round, the Luhansk club will play at home against Metalist 1925 on May 8.
