Hapoel will refuse to buy out Suleymanov’s contract after player takes part in fight – media

Management “Hapoel” of Beer Sheva has decided not to buy out the Russian’s contract Magomed Shapi Suleimanova playing for the club on loan, due to a footballer’s involvement in a brawl during the Israeli Premier League Round 33 match against Haifa’s Maccabi, reports ynet .

Suleimanov’s rights belong to Krasnodar. The Israeli club have the right to buy the 23-year-old footballer at the end of the loan agreement in June 2023 for 800,000 euros.

The 33rd round match was held on May 1 in Beer Sheva and ended with Hapoel winning 2:1. After the final whistle, riots broke out on the pitch, a mass brawl ensued and fans also threw objects at the players. During the fight, the Russian slapped the opponent’s football player. Israel Football Association prosecutor Suleimanov was charged with participating in a fight in aggravated circumstances. Previously, the Russian was already suspended for four matches for rough play. The football player is expected to face the most severe penalty, possibly a lengthy suspension.

As stated in the document, if before this match Hapoel negotiated with Krasnodar to reduce the amount of the ransom, now they are not interested in the player. Representatives for the player have issued a statement following the allegations.

— Suleimanov is a man known at the club for his kindness, modesty and dedication to Hapoel and the entire Israeli football community. We recognize that the incident in the last match caused some irritation, but we would like to stress that Suleymanov was not the aggressor. He tried to prevent the violence and became the target of attack as a result. Under these circumstances, it was difficult for him to keep his composure, and he hit the player, which he deeply regrets.

We call on all parts of the Israeli football community to show respect and reconciliation. Together we can create a positive atmosphere in which every player will feel safe and can grow as a professional and as a person.

The incident is expected to be considered at a meeting of the Israel Football Association’s disciplinary body on Thursday. In addition to Suleymanov, five other Hapoel players and six Maccabi players, as well as coaches and other employees of the two clubs, have been charged. Each of the teams is threatened with taking three points from the championship.

Suleymanov has made 35 appearances for Hapoel this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
