Ecuador’s secret movement for the Byron Castillo case: obstacles to CAS trial announced

FEF vice-president Carlos Manzur unveils the strategy to delay the decisive direction, to stop Chile’s last hope of going to the World Cup.

Ecuador is injured. Even the resolution of the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA, which ratified that the team of Guayas will play the World Cup in Qatar, after having settled the controversy over the nationality of Byron Castillo, does not appease the annoyance.

Now in Ecuador they are evaluating how they are going to pass the accounts. And since it is assumed that regardless of the decision of the FIFA Appeals Chamber, the case will reach the CAS, the answer is at hand: an abbreviated procedure before the highest court requires an agreement between the parts. “We will see it in due time, but personally I would not accept it. Not after all that has been said and how it has been said,” says Carlos Manzur, vice-president of the FEF, at Deportivo.

The manager is pissed off. “For falsely accusing us of irregularities. I am a lawyer and I have 26 years of leadership. And I know there are ways. This is not what we expect, ”he insists.

The counterattack strategy is being revised. “That’s what we’re going to assess. The appeal phase is still to come and it is always better to have an overview. We have to assess everything meticulously. You must be very responsible when performing actions. Everyone is free to exercise the actions they consider their right and, logically, this exercise entails responsibility,” concludes Manzur.
