Former Lokomotiv, Roma, Parma and Belarus national team player Sergei Gourenko told that people are shocked at the state of football in the country.

Gurenko won the Russian Championship in 2004 and the Italian Cup in 2002. Now Gurenko is a coach, he worked in such teams as Krasnodar, Standard, Dynamo Minsk.

– The Belarusian national team has not won official matches for two years, took the last place in the Nations League and has never beaten Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. What is this?

Here we have two opposing points of view on the situation. The public, the fans are in shock. They say where everything is going. For many, football has become uninteresting.

And the second opinion is: “Everything is fine with us, we are developing and moving in the right direction.” This is mostly said by those who manage Belarusian football.

That is to say, everything is bad or excellent. There is no third opinion.

If in fact, in the last two European Cup cycles, our four clubs have won a victory – over a team from Bosnia. And scored the fewest points in the UEFA coefficient table. Probably only San Marino, like us, is a plus or a minus.

As for the national team, you can see for yourself – the last place in the Nations League, 15 matches without a win in official matches. Nobody leaves for the top leagues, and only Selyava plays in the best clubs in Russia – he replaces Rostov.

– But even now the federation is once again led by a non-footballer.

But how, without knowledge, to understand our Belarusian swamp, where a thousand people – a thousand opinions? And everyone thinks he’s right.

– The simplest indicator of the level of football is attendance. How many go to the top teams?

– 300-500 people. If BATE plays with Dynamo Minsk, sometimes three thousand can happen at best.

In general, everything has plunged in our country: funding, material resources, youth football, conditions for football players.

But the main thing is that everything turns out well on paper. The federation people report that four years have been great. And Belarusian football is a garden of Eden.

What accomplishments are they talking about?

– In Russia, every 5-7 years they talk about the implementation of German strategy. Do you have the same?
