“Maybe CSKA even paid the agents extra to convince me to sign a five-year contract with the club” – Yaroshik

Ex-footballer CSKA Jiri Yaroshik recalled that he was sad after signing a contract with the Moscow club.

Yaroshik left Sparta Prague for CSKA in January 2003, after which he joined Chelsea in 2005.

– I remember that the office of the president of CSKA was not in a very nice building. Officers and Evgeny Giner and I went upstairs and sat down at the table. I studied Russian at school for only two years, so it was difficult for me to carry on a conversation and say something. When we flew to Moscow, we weren’t sure if we would sign this contract. I don’t think the agents knew anything about CSKA at that time either. It wasn’t easy for them to say, “Jiri, this option is just great for you.” Maybe CSKA even paid them extra to convince me to sign a five-year contract.

After signing the contract, the agents left. It was very cold outside – minus 25 degrees, snow was falling. I called my relatives and said that I had become a CSKA player. I was very sad in my soul, I even cried, because I realized that I was far from my family all alone in a foreign country. I dreamed of Europe, but I found myself in Russia. It wasn’t easy, but after a short time everything was back to normal and everything was fine for me, Yaroshik told Metaratings.ru.

The Czech footballer played 103 games in RPL, scored 16 goals. Jarosik retired in 2015, his last club was Alaves.
