(ANSA) – NAPLES, MAY 4 – Monza defender Armando Izzo, implicated in the case of football betting and organized crime, was sentenced to five years in prison by the VI Criminal Section of the Court of Naples for external competition in the Camorra association and sports fraud. The prosecutor of Naples, Maurizio De Marco, at the time of the indictment, asked for 4 years and 10 months for the Neapolitan footballer. Izzo’s cousin, Umberto Accurso (head of the Vinella Grassi clan from Secondigliano) and Salvatore Russo, allegedly linked to the same clan, were also sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
