At the end of the match with Palermo, coach Massimo Oddo went to the press center of the Barbera stadium to answer questions from the journalists present.
“Palermo started better than us, – said the coach of the blue and white – he dominated the field and possession of the ball, although he did not create special moments, and the goals, in fact, were accidental. Then in the second half we did what we had to do, almost the entire second half we were in the opponent’s half, we scored a goal and tried to push to the end. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to draw, also because Palermo remained compact, but considering all ninety minutes, I think we deserved a draw.”
“There are six more points and we will fight until the last second of the last day. Today I chose the players that I thought had more power and freshness because I knew that Palermo, playing with a free mind, would start strong and I needed balance on the pitch and a lot of running both in attack and in defense and I think that whoever took the field today from the very beginning had a good match in that sense. Quality is important, but it must be available to the group, otherwise it is useless. I thought it was going to be a lot of running today, so from the first minute I made a definite choice to be able to use a little more quality during the match with stretched teams, even if we put it in practice a bit today.”
“The manager is always waiting for the player to move the balance, – added Mr Oddo. – but the problem is that sometimes we manage to do things that are not needed at a certain time. When, for example, we put two attackers on the attack, the only thing to do was to throw as many balls as possible into the middle of the penalty area. When I say that quality should be at the service of the team, I mean exactly that: I don’t need unnecessary dribbling, but that a player who can create goals does it, and today it was not done.
“Now we have two more games to play, we need to score six points against Parma and Pisa and we will try to do that by putting everything we have on the field.”
