Italy’s sports minister apologizes to Juventus striker Vlahovic for racial slurs

Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi apologizes to striker Juventus Dusan Vlahovich after being abused by Atalanta fans.

The Turin club beat Atalanta on the 34th day of the Italian championship – 2-0.

During the match, supporters of the Bergamo club shouted the word “gypsies” at the Serbian striker. The Italian word for “Gypsy” is often used by football fan groups as an insult to Balkan and Eastern European players, regardless of their ethnic background.

My no to racism. Respect always counts! And those who are guilty must answer for their actions, always and in all cases. We apologize to Dusan Vlahovic! Abodi wrote on social media.

Serie A matches are broadcast live on the Match Group TV channels and on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
