The Blue-Yellows lead the quartet after two games played
Former defender Ukrainian national team Oleg Luzhny spoke about the prospects of the team of Alexander Petrakov in the group League of Nations. According to him, the blue-yellows are superior to all their rivals in terms of the level of play.
“I saw how our team played with the Scots, Ireland, with the Armenians. We are head and shoulders above all these teams. I see no problem to take first place. And we look our best in the game. Such teams become defensive, and it is difficult to pass it. All such games go to a goal scored. You score – and then they open up, they don’t know what to do, and it’s already easier to play. It becomes calmer, each player has confidence, because the load has already been lifted. What difference does it make whether we win 1:0 or 3:0?
In our time, the Armenians were more cheerful than what we saw. These generally looked very weak, but it was very difficult to play with them. The Armenians are the home team, they were very unpleasant. It was a much better team back then than it is now.
There is no doubt that we will win the war and defeat the enemy. I think everything has its time. The time will come, everything will fall into place, and our football must progress, because we have a football country, people love football, there are many talents. And after this war, we will go to a high level,” Luzhny said.
In June, the Ukrainian national team started in the League of Nations with a minimal away victory over Ireland – 1:0. After that, the blue-yellows beat the Armenians with a score of 3:0. After two matches played, Petrakov’s team is in the lead in their group.
On June 14, Ukraine will play with Ireland in Poland. The fight starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
