National football veteran Boris Ignatiev shared his opinion on the future goalkeeper of the “red and white” Alexander Maksimenko, noting that there are no better options than Spartak, Zenit and CSKA for the Russian footballer.
– I am not a fan of shyness. We understand that no matter where Maksimenko goes, there is a need to withstand competition everywhere. Need to work. If the conversation was about there being five goalkeepers at Spartak, that would be different. Maksimenko is trustworthy. He played. Selikhov may be stronger today. Any trainer is not his own enemy, he will put the one who is the best. His goal is to win.
The goalkeeper is a big part of the team. I can’t say for sure if Maksimenko should leave. But I wouldn’t rush. There are simply no better deals than Spartak. Spartak, Zenit and CSKA are everything a Russian player can dream of. As soon as you left for Orekhovo-Zuyevo… You will play, but it makes no sense,” Ignatiev told Euro-Futbol.Ru.
Maskimenko has been playing for Spartak main team since 2018. The 25-year-old has made 13 appearances this season, conceding 13 goals.
Spartak are fourth in the standings with 49 points, behind CSKA (51) and Rostov (50).
