Shakhtar is not satisfied with the work of the referees in the championship of Ukraine. Pitmen’s sporting director, Darijo Srna, accused the referee of being biased and loyal to some clubs.
He also said that the Donetsk team is considering the possibility of getting an additional VAR system for the Ukrainian championship. This, they say, will raise the standard of refereeing and maintain parity between clubs during important matches.
“Now I don’t like how the matches of Dnipro-1 are judged with a bias. And this is also mentioned by experts and journalists. Therefore, I ask those responsible for the referee in Ukraine to pay attention to this, make conclusions and punish referees who make major mistakes.
We understand the challenges and financial challenges competition organizers face. Therefore, Shakhtar is considering the possibility of getting the VAR system for the UPL, so that VAR will work in every match next season. With additional VAR, it will be easier: it will eliminate errors and eliminate outside interference in the work of judges. It is important that all clubs are on an equal footing.
We want justice and fight for honesty. Matches with such an approach do not deserve to be the elite of Ukrainian football and participate in the Ukrainian championship. Everyone should have the same rules. What is happening now with refereeing reminds me of the arbitrariness of the early 2000s. If Shakhtar wins this championship, I promise you, he will do it honestly. If he loses, then only in a fair fight. We do not recognize deception and we will fight against it,” Shakhtar’s official website quoted the Croatian functionary as saying.
It can be remembered that earlier the referee did not count Minay’s clean goal against Shakhtar in the UPL. After this, Srna admitted that the referee made a mistake in their favor.
