Man City manager happy with draw
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was pleased with the draw of the first semi-final match with Real Madrid in Champions League (1:1).
“When we were better, they scored. When Real was the best, we scored. It was a tight game. Let’s see what we can do better in Manchester.”
“We defended our box well, we made an incredible effort. We can defend better in some directions, maybe we can attack a little differently. Alaba and Rüdiger were so close to Erling Haaland that he had very little space left. Maybe we can adjust some things next week.”
“Toni Kroos made us defend a lot more than we wanted to. I’m happy with a 1:1 draw, it’s better than a 3:0 defeat that could have been! In some moments we were good. But I think we could have scored more with enough aggression. I have an idea what to do next week. But we need to watch this match again.”
Madrid opened the scoring in the match, Vinicius Junior accurately struck from a distance. Manchester City bounced back from the break thanks to a long-range strike from Kevin De Bruyne.
The second leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid will take place on 17 May. The game starts at 22:00 Kyiv time.
