The Donetsk club is striving to reduce the number of referee errors in the matches of the Ukrainian championship.
Two new cars with a VAR system will appear in the Ukrainian Football Premier League. The purchase of cars and their transfer to UAF was officially announced in Shakhtar.
As stated on the website of the Donetsk club, with this step, the Pitmen seek to reduce the number of mistakes in the championship and put all teams on an equal footing.
“Recently, a lot has been said about the referee in the UPL. A strong stream of negativity, incomprehensible decisions on the referee in every round, which not only reduces the previously low interest in our football, but they completely kill this interest . The referees and their scandal cards, penalties We know the names of the referees better than the names of the players of the opposing teams, and if we talk a lot about arbitration, we must admit that there clear problem here.
What to do? One of the solutions we see is the systematic use of innovative VAR technologies in all UPL matches. Of course, VAR is not a panacea, but today it is a mandatory requirement recognized and used in most football championships around the world. All clubs must be on equal footing and VAR must work in every match.
Therefore, FC Shakhtar decided to buy two VAR cars, which the club is giving to UAF to service UPL matches next season. Both cars will be purchased from the 60 million hryvnias that we promised earlier to allocate to support Ukrainian football.
I hope that a sufficient number of VAR machines will significantly reduce the number of refereeing scandals and ensure the use of video technology in every match. Let’s talk about football again, and not about football referees and their mistakes,” said Sergey Palkin, general director of the club.
Recall that earlier in Shakhtar UPL judges were accused of bias.
