Ukraine U-21 will play in the playoffs for the right to play at the European Youth Championship
Head coach of the Ukrainian national team U-21 Ruslan Rotan commented on the victory over peers from Armenia (2:0) in the group stage of selection for Euro 2023.
“I liked the mood of the guys in the match, which, in fact, did not decide anything. The motivation was good. We asked the team to play for our warriors fighting for our independence.”
“We could count on more, but we are satisfied with this result. We have a playoff ahead of us for the right to qualify for the European Championship.”
“I liked the mood of the team. What we agreed on before the match, the players fulfilled. Yes, there were some bugs, but we will work on fixing them.”
Ruslan Rotan’s team finished second in Group H with 23 points in ten games played. The first place was taken by France with 26 points.
The Blue-Yellows also failed to qualify for Euro 2023 directly through the rankings of the runners-up. Now Ukraine U-21 will play in the playoffs for the right to play at the European Youth Championship.
The U21 European Championship will be held in Romania and Georgia and will start on June 9, 2023.
