Tadeu, Goiás goalkeeper, went to the police to report false information after being linked to match-fixing; player was never mentioned in investigation

The player sought the police after being placed with one of the athletes who are investigated by the Public Ministry of Goiás (MP-GO) in Operation Maximum Penalty, on the manipulation of results in games of the Series A and B of the Brasileirão.
The goalkeeper’s name was never mentioned as a target of the MP-GO operation. In a statement to “GE”, Tadeu said that the post on social networks has already been removed. The post claimed that the Esmeraldino archer was involved in the four-match betting scheme.
“Ridiculous. A bad joke. I had to take appropriate action. In such a troubled moment that Brazilian football is experiencing with these betting schemes, a person, a bum using my image and my name to create fake news, that is revolting.”he told the “GE”.
“Whoever has been doing this dirty trick should be punished, because it’s a dirty move to do this with a co-worker, with the institution, the fan who does his part. They hope that they will be punished severely so that those who do the right things, who are honest, who do what is right, are not harmed, as certainly several clubs have been harmed by what has been happening”, completed.

“I come, through this note, to repudiate the information conveyed in some social network profiles that put my name linked to sports betting schemes.
Both in my personal life and in my career as a professional soccer player, I value loyalty, honesty, transparency, respect for others and, above all, for the institution I defend and its main asset, which is its fans.
Together with the legal body of Goiás, we have already taken all the necessary measures so that those responsible for this irresponsible and malicious attitude come to pay for their actions”.
