Ex-Botafogo, Barreto wins title and access in Belgium

Ex-Botafogo, defensive midfielder Barreto won the third access of his career; player has marks for Glorioso and Bragantino

With a 1-0 victory over RSCA future, the RWD Molenbeek, team of the Brazilian Barreto, won the title of the second division of the Belgian Championship and, consequently, guaranteed access to the elite next season. The defensive midfielder, formerly of Botafogo, entered the second half of the duel that secured the cup. Barreto celebrated another trophy in his career.

“Very happy for this title. When I received the invitation from Molenbeek, I was already projecting that title and, thank God, we won. This is my third entry in my career and it was very special. Now, let’s celebrate this title and accession, because it was a very tough dispute and out of 12 teams only one went up. So it shows that we did a good job throughout the championship”, celebrated through his press office.

Of the 32 games played by Molenbeek in the championship, Barreto was on the field in 22 opportunities. The midfielder also scored a goal and assisted on goal. This was Barreto’s first season working outside Brazil. The player’s contract with the Belgian team ends in June. The steering wheel analyzed the good passage through the team and projected the expectation for the sequel.

“This was my first experience outside Brazil. Individually speaking, I believe it was a good season, I was able to develop my football well and help the team at various times. European football is very physical. I no longer have a contract with Botafogo and my contract with Molenbeek ends in June, so I will be free. Some things have already appeared, but now I’m going to celebrate, rest a little and soon I hope to define my future”he concluded.
