Rooting for Manchester City in the Champions League final
The second leg matches of the 1/2 finals of three European cup competitions did not make any serious adjustments to the UEFA coefficients table. But again pleased the Italian fans. Zarya and Vorskla brought 0.2 points each.
Ukraine will finish the current European campaign, which determines the number of places in the European competitions of the 2024/2025 season, in 14th place. As of today, this position gives our country the opportunity to enter two teams in the Champions League. Both are qualified. But the champion of Ukraine has excellent chances for the group stage of the Champions League next season.
Ukraine will start the next European Cup season from the 11th position. Nominally, we are 12th, but the disqualification of Russia automatically raises our country one position up. It doesn’t change anything essentially: two of our representatives will start from the qualifying rounds. But if the Champions League of the 2022/2023 season is won by a team that gets into the next season’s tournament based on the results of its championship, Ukraine will receive a direct ticket to the group. This means that Ukrainians need to root for Manchester City in the Champions League final.
