The coach Mauricio Barbieri apologized for statements made after the defeat of Basque for the saints, last Sunday, the 14th, for the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship. In conversation with journalists this Thursday, the 18th, at CT Moacyr Barbosa, the coach vented.

In the press conference after the defeat to Peixe, Barbieri made a comparison between Vasco and Santos and stated that the team from São Paulo is “used to playing in the elite” for never having been relegated to the second division of the Brasileirão. The statement was not well received by Vasco fans.
“For a patient who is in the ICU, you can’t expect him to jump out of bed and run away, but you can expect him to get back on his feet. We are in this process. Santos has never been relegated and is used to playing in the elite, and we were infinitely superior. We have to translate that into game results.”he said after the match against Santos, in which he was booed in São Januário.
Cruzmaltino is in 16th place on the Brazilian Championship leaderboard, with six points. The team has only one win, three draws and two defeats.
