Former coach of the Ukrainian national team took part in a charity match
Legendary Ukrainian footballer and Ambassador of UNITED24 Andrey Shevchenko commented on his participation in a charity match Soccer Aid 2022which was organized Unicef UK. The ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team noted that thanks to the fight, they managed to collect almost 16 million pounds.
“I am very proud to have participated in the Soccer Aid 2022 charity match with many friends and champions as a representative of the world of football and an ambassador of Ukrainian sports. Thanks to everyone, we have raised a record £15,673,728 in the history of Soccer Aid,” Shevchenko wrote on Twitter.
Shevchenko was part of the team of world legends, which was opposed by the England team. In addition to the owner of the Golden Ball-2004, other famous football players played in the duel – Gary Neville, Cafu, Jimmy Carragher, Joe Cole, Patrice Evra, Petr Cech, Dimitar Berbatov.
The main time of the match ended with a score of 2:2, and in the penalty shootout, the “legends” team turned out to be more accurate – 4:1.
In early May, Shevchenko said that he was not yet thinking about returning to football activities against the backdrop of active hostilities in his native country. Ukraine resists a full-scale invasion of the Russians for the 110th day.
